If your company blocks the connection (for IT administrators)

Many companies only let their IT administrator approve outside apps. If that is your company, connecting your email or calendar will stop with a message like "Access blocked," "This app is blocked," or "Need admin approval." Nothing you do in ReferralPulse can get past it, and trying again will not help.

The rest of this page is written for the person who can approve it. Send them this link. It has everything they need.

What to send your administrator

Copy this and email it to whoever handles IT at your company.

Hi, I would like to use ReferralPulse to keep track of my referral partners. It needs read access to my email and calendar, and it is currently blocked by our security settings. Everything you need to approve it is on this page: https://referralpulse.ai/help/integrations/admin-approval

Thanks!

For the administrator

ReferralPulse is a referral relationship manager. The person who sent you this link uses it to keep track of who refers business to them and who they refer business to. It reads their mailbox and calendar so it can recognize introductions and referrals without them having to type each one in.

Access is per person. Approving ReferralPulse does not give it access to anyone else's mail or calendar. Each person signs in themselves and grants access to their own account only, and either of you can revoke it at any time.

What ReferralPulse asks for

Google Workspace

PermissionWhy
gmail.readonlyRead messages to recognize introductions and referrals
gmail.sendSend the messages the person writes in the app, from their own address
calendar.readonlyRead meetings so partner meetings appear on their timeline
openid, email, profileConfirm which account is signing in

Microsoft 365

PermissionWhy
Mail.ReadWriteRead messages to recognize introductions and referrals
Mail.SendSend the messages the person writes in the app, from their own address
Calendars.ReadRead meetings so partner meetings appear on their timeline
User.ReadConfirm which account is signing in
offline_accessKeep the connection working without asking them to sign in every hour

ReferralPulse never changes mailbox settings, never sets up forwarding, and never sends anything the person did not write and approve. Message bodies are encrypted and deleted on a fixed schedule.

Approving it in Google Workspace

Our OAuth client ID is:

450783138470-60fmolq6ugcj54o1s0nuat3kpo8udcgi.apps.googleusercontent.com
  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Security, then Access and data control, then API controls.
  2. Click Manage Third-Party App Access.
  3. Click Configure new app, then search by OAuth client ID and paste the ID above.
  4. Choose Trusted, and pick whether it applies to everyone or to one organizational unit.

Only a super administrator can do this. If Block all third-party API access is switched on, that setting has to come off first, otherwise the app stays blocked no matter how it is configured.

Approving it in Microsoft 365

Our application ID is:

b7c14dd1-6e9d-4b32-b25b-74f7d00bc370

The quickest route is to sign in as an administrator and open this link, which grants consent for your tenant in one step:

https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/adminconsent?client_id=b7c14dd1-6e9d-4b32-b25b-74f7d00bc370

You can also do it from the Microsoft Entra admin center under Identity, then Applications, then Enterprise applications, by finding ReferralPulse and granting admin consent.

If you would rather people request apps themselves, turning on the admin consent workflow in Entra gives them a request box and sends you the request, instead of leaving them at a dead end.

After it is approved

Go back to ReferralPulse and connect again from Settings, then Integrations, or from the setup step if you are still working through it. It should go straight through.

If you still see the same message, ask your administrator to confirm the change saved and applies to your account. Approvals can take a few minutes to take effect, and some companies apply them to one group of people at a time.
